One of our social-emotional goals this year is to develop positive relationships across our campus.  To help support this goal, students and staff are going to participate in the National Random Acts of Kindness week. This event begins Monday, January 29th.  Our student council has planned a number of activities and challenges for the us to complete.

Random Acts of Kindness are when we go beyond what is expected of us and reach out to help another person. There are hundreds of ways to show someone that you care. Next week, look for opportunities to show that you care by performing Random Acts of Kindness.  For inspiration, check out the video below to:

Spirit Day and Challenges

Monday, January 29th – Stand out and brighten someone’s day – Wear Neon Colors

  • Daily Challenge – Offer to help a parent or teacher without being asked.

Tuesday, January 30th – Score Points by helping others – Wear Sport Attire

  • Daily Challenge – Smile at 25 people today

Wednesday, January 31st Kindness to the Rescue – Dress Like a Superhero

  • Daily Challenge – Hang out with someone new are recess today.

Thursday, February 1st – Rock the Socks for Kindness – Wear crazy socks

  • Daily Challenge – Express gratitude by thanking a family member, staff member or friend today.

Friday, February 2nd – Dream of Kindness – Wear your pajamas

  • Daily Challenge – Step up to help someone in need today.

WEEKLY UPDATE: Week of December 11th

It’s hard to believe it is already the last week of classes for 2017 and that half of the school year is coming to a close. Thank you to each of our families for your support and dedication to our Parkview community.  We are grateful for all of you! On behalf of all of us at Hedenkamp, we want to wish everyone a terrific Winter Break.


Our Winter Variety Show will take place this Thursday beginning at 6:30pm.  Doors will open at 5:45pm.  Seating is on a first come first seated basis.  Each paid audience member can reserve ONE seat each.  Tickets can be purchased for $3.OO in the main office.


Report cards will be sent home Friday with your students.  Please let us know if you have any questions.


As the second quarter comes to a close, please be sure to stop by the lost and found to identify any of your child’s belongings. We will be donating all unclaimed  items on Friday, December 15.


Our third quarter will begin on Tuesday, January 9.  Please keep in mind that day is a minimum day.  All Kindergarten students will attend from 8:50-1:55.  All 1st – 6th grade students will be dismissed at 2:05  We are looking forward to a wonderful third quarter with our students!

South Bay Rapid Transit Meeting

As you may know, work is being completed for a South Bay Rapid Transit system.  Sandag will be at Hedenkamp Elementary School on November 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to answer community questions.  For additional information about the project please click on the link: South Bay Rapid .

See’s Candy Fundraiser

Help us earn money for our school and make the holidays even sweeter!

Dear Parents and Friends:

We are excited to begin our See’s Candies fundraiser!  We are raising funds for field trips and assemblies.  Since all of the students benefit from this fundraiser, we greatly appreciate everyone’s participation.  You can help us reach our goal by taking orders from friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers.  Famous for American-made deliciousness with no added preservatives, See’s is easy to sell because people love the candy.

Important Dates:

November 13th – Fundraiser starts

November 27th – Fundraiser ends (all orders and money must be turned in).

December 15th – Candy will be available for delivery to your supporters.


Helpful Hints:

  • Fill in the pre-sell from completely
  • Collect money from your supporters when they order.  Ask them to make their checks payable to Parkview PTA.
  • Verify order quantities and money collected.
  • Put money in the collection envelope
  • Be sure to thank your supporters.
